Itotiani – Chicano Batman

I have to admit, this is the only song I know by these guys, but I love it. Part of why I started this blog was to revisit songs and artists I enjoy and, through that, discover new songs from the artists that I’m already familiar with or, like in this case, need to look into more. As soon as I’m done writing this, I plan on watching Chicano Batman’s (what a great name) NPR Tiny Desk concert.
Laid-back instrumentation and emotion expressed through lyrics I barely understand. My Spanish is pretty rusty, but I don’t think you have to understand a word to appreciate the feelings expressed in this song. For me, it’s a must-listen for relaxing on the beach or maybe a nice evening drive in the summer with the windows down. According to the internet, “Itotiani” is a name that means “Aztec dancer” in English, a very appropriate title for a song that’s so easy to sway your hips to. In the live performance I linked below, you can see how much fun these guys have playing live, and check out the singer playing guitar and keys!
