John Redcorn – SiR

SiR’s “John Redcorn” is a great R&B/Soul track from his 2019 album Chasing Summer. I believe I found this song by accident while searching for King of The Hill clips on YouTube. The song is named after a character on the aforementioned show which features the character, John Redcorn, who is having a hilariously obvious affair with one of the main character’s wives.
This song is sung from the perspective of a man having an affair with a married woman, whom he is deeply in love with. However, he is painfully aware that they will never actually be together, and that the entire thing is temporary. It seems that his feelings for the woman are unrequited, and he questions if it is even worth it. He is frustrated that he is destined to be alone in the situation, but even knowing this, he wrestles with the idea of continuing the affair. Musically, I love the instrumentation on this song. Super laid back and relaxed, and it fits the vibe of the song perfectly. In my opinion, this is one of the best modern RnB tracks there is.
