The Party is Over – Morgan Wade and The Step Brothers

Before Morgan Wade was a solo act in Nashville, or hanging out with the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, she recruited musicians in Virginia through Craigslist to help her record what would become her first album, Puppets With My Heart, which she has since somewhat scrubbed from the internet. However, it’s still out there if you do a little digging. The only thing I can figure is she doesn’t like how low the production value of this album is, because in my opinion, this is some of her best work. I really love Morgan’s voice and her whole vibe, and I really hope she remasters or re-records the songs off this album.
Lyrically, this is a great track. I think about being hopelessly in love with someone you know isn’t necessarily “good” for you, or just being in a toxic relationship in general. I think it’s summed up very well with this verse from the chorus.
“And why would I want to
When I got high off of wanting you”
Instramentation wise, this is a great song with some nice guitar licks and great keyboard playing. I’ll tell y’all, it is a hell of a lot of fun to bang your hand on the steering wheel in unison with the snare during the chorus. Overall, an awesome and Unfortuantely unknown country tune.
