Kathleen – Catfish and The Bottlemen

Catfish and the Bottlemen are another one of the groups that I listened to all the time in college, an indie rock outfit hailing from Wales.

If I remember correctly, I first heard “Kathleen” while I was in high school. I really liked it but for whatever reason never delved further into the Bottlemen’s discography. While I did listen to this song every now and then, I guess I “rediscovered” these guys in my junior year of college, right as they were announcing their hiatus! Lucky for me, in November of last year, they announced that they’d be returning to touring and recently dropped a new single as well. I actually don’t know if their return includes all of their members, or just frontman Van McCann. Regardless, I’m still excited to (hopefully) see them on their upcoming tour!

For the song itself, I actually wouldn’t count this as my overall favorite song by the Bottlemen, but it is one of my favorite songs in general. I think the lyrics are fairly self-explanatory, and I think what I like most about this track is the way McCann sings the song (especially the chorus) as well as the sound of the guitars in this one.
