Madness – Muse

Happy Friday the 13th! More Muse for you guys today! I mentioned in yesterday’s post about how creative I think these guys are. I think it’s pretty awesome how a song like “Hysteria” and a song like “Madness” can come from the same group. Muse has certainly evolved over the years, as all great bands do, but they have always had a certain cyberpunk/techno feel to them. It is on full display here with “Madness”
I have to give this song a ton of credit; it certainly played a role in expanding my taste in music. I was first introduced to this one when a really good friend of the family took me on a day trip to see the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame around 10 years ago. A core memory for me and a great introduction to tons of new music. Up to this point, if it was loud guitars and heavy drums, I didn’t want it. This song totally changed my perspective. It also features one of my all-time favorite guitar solos; I just think it’s darn near perfect. It fits the song so well—the tone, the composition, and even how short it is. Only 15 seconds, but it does its job so well.
