Werewolves of London – Warren Zevon
Stand In The Fire – recorded August 1980 at The Roxy in West Hollywood

Happy Monday! As the previous post mentioned, I’m only doing live tracks this week.
Warren Zevon, one of my absolute favorite artists and people of all time. He had a great sense of humor, and outside of the music industry was a close friend of Hunter S. Thompson (he’d add shows in Colorado to have an excuse to visit) and David Letterman. Of course, Zevon was also a hell of a musical talent as well. He is responsible for making what I consider to be some of the most interesting and fun music of all time.
Stand In The Fire in its entirety is excellent, and it’s a ton of fun to listen to. I honestly could’ve picked a couple of different tracks off of this one, but I’d be lying if I said that “Werewolves of London” wasn’t my favorite. This was the first song that introduced me to Warren Zevon (thanks, mom) and is one of my top three songs of his. He’s known for his ad-libs in live performances, and that’s actually one of my favorite things about this album. This track in particular has some great ones, probably most notably name-dropping James Taylor.
There’s no video of this particular performance, so I’ll link one from a similar time.
