Virtual Insanity – Jamiroquai

Let me preface this: this is the only Jamiroquai song I know, and tomorrow, I’m going to do a bit of a dive into their music. I’ve known this one for a long time but didn’t really appreciate it until more recently, a common theme for songs I post on this blog. I mean, holy hell, these guys had a dedicated didgeridoo player from ’92 to ’97. I fear I don’t know what I’ve been missing.
Virtual Insanity seems to be one of the more iconic songs of the 90s, often cited for how damn cool its music video is. Pretty mind-blowing if you’ve never seen it, and still incredibly cool and extremely fun if you have. The concept is pulled off completely with practical effects, adding wheels to the walls and furniture rather than moving the floor. I am a huge fan of practical effects, and this is such a cool example. I really like the singer Jay Kay‘s voice as well. Very jazzy stuff.
