Summertime Rolls – Jane’s Addiction
Summertime Rolls by Jane’s Addiction is one of those songs that just sounds like a Jane’s Addiction song. So true to their style and sound, even if you had never heard it before, if you were at all familiar with Jane’s Addiction, you could probably guess it was their work. I think it’s pretty cool to have a certain “sound” associated with you, so much that it can define music that other people make or the influence is so apparent that it comes out instrumentally in other’s songs.
I think what stands out the most to me musically in this one is the bass, with such a cool and melodic sound. I love how it starts the song alone and finishes the song alone. This song really reminds me of Dead Can Dance and their opium den-esque sounds.
