Fadeaway- BoDeans
I think my dad introduced me to the BoDeans when I was in high school, with this song, “Fadeaway,” as well as their biggest hit, “Closer To Free.” I don’t know a ton about the BoDeans themselves, but they’re from Wisconsin and randomly made an appearance on the Netflix show, The Ranch, which featured one of my favorite actors, Sam Elliott.
“Fadeaway” has a really memorable guitar riff that, for whatever reason, feels really nautical to me. Almost pirate-like? I feel the same way about Iggy Pop‘s “The Passenger“, so maybe the sea is calling to me? Who knows. “Fadeaway” is catchy as hell and really fun to sing along with. There is a really cool rhythm section breakdown about halfway through the song that builds back up from there and is really groovy.
