On the Hunt – Lynyrd Skynyrd
Often overlooked by their more well-known songs,
“On the Hunt” by Skynyrd has one of the tastiest guitar licks of the southern legend’s catalog. The crunch is perfect and it’s just one of those ones that makes you feel like a badass when you’re listening to it. The opening 30 seconds or so of this song just make you want to go buy a leather jacket, light up a cigarillo, and toss the match to the side while you slowly walk away. Maybe there’s a slow-motion explosion involved too.
Lyrically, this song goes hand in hand with something like ZZ Top‘s “Tush,” but I really think the focus is on the instrumentation. That being said, Ronnie‘s voice and drawl are perfect for this song.
