Here Comes the Hotstepper – Dr. Dog

Dr. Dog‘s cover of the iconic 90’s dancehall hit “Here Comes the Hotstepper” was quite the surprise when I first heard it this week on the way back home. Laid-back and fun, this is one of the more effortlessly cool songs of all time, with this less polished rendition being the perfect addition to any beach playlist and a great way to bring in the summer heat.

First recorded by Ini Kamoze, there is certainly something to be said for the original, with more emphasis on the funk of the song and plenty of samples in the background. The production has more of a focus on being ready for a club rather than the beach, in my opinion, but still fun as hell to jam to.
