What Goes Around…/…Comes Around – Justin Timberlake

Regardless of what you think of him, there is no denying that Justin Timberlake is one of the most talented performers of the 2000s and is responsible for many hits during that era. He has a really cool voice and has some absolutely killer production on his albums, typically done by Timbaland. Timberlake’s brand of blue eyed soul is a staple in modern American music.

What Goes Around…/…Comes Around begins with a Middle Eastern-esque backing track that maintains an infectious groove throughout the song. The beat is killer. The 808s, strings, and guitar all come together to create the perfect edge while JT’s unmistakable falsetto brings everything together with the hook. The interlude included in the full version is pretty cool too. We lose the Middle Eastern inspiration and move on to a more dramatic and 808-focused beat.

Interestingly enough, Marilyn Manson covered this one. (Not saying it’s particularly good, but it does exist)
