Oh Well – Fleetwood Mac

Before Stevie Nicks, there was Peter Green. The original Fleetwood Mac was incredibly different from what they would evolve into, and I don’t think there is any point in debating which is better, because both iterations made great music, but both with such different sounds it really comes down to personal preference. All that being said, “Oh Well,” coming from the former, Peter Green wrote one of the coolest songs of all time, featuring one of the most iconic guitar riffs and some lyrics that have real edge to them, especially in the context of the time. It’s one of my favorite songs of all time, and I love hearing different covers of it, especially live, so I linked a bunch of them below.

Billy Gibbons – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83-QNVnos2k
Slowed down and raspy, Billy’s version almost feels like a different song but retains the edge of the original
Haim – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VikyxJoBF2k
This was one of the first covers that I really loved. Don’t know what Haim is up to these days but they’ll always my respect with this one.
Tom Petty – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H34Uc9JWECQ
Petty Forever! His live anthology is killer and I highly suggest taking a dive into it.
Jimmy Page and the Black Crowes – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39m4ZPN1ODA
My favorite of the covers. JP’s playing is just so powerful.
