Slide Away – Oasis

With the recent return to touring of the legendary Oasis, brothers Noel and Liam seem to have put aside their differences for ungodly amounts of money. More power to them. I am a fan of Oasis and thoroughly enjoy their studio and live stuff. According to Noel

I haven’t really singled out a favorite song by the Brits, but I do really enjoy “Slide Away” from their debut album Definitely Maybe. Written by Noel about his rocky relationship at the time, it is just one of those songs that I think everyone can relate to in some way. I love the guitar tone from Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs, especially in the buildup to the part with both brothers singing, which is my favorite part overall.

Part of what makes Oasis, Oasis, is the feuding and fighting between the brothers, ultimately leading to the breakup of the group. In the live rendition I linked below, praise goes to the cameraman and director. You’ll see what I mean right around the 4-minute mark. Brutal. This is about a month or so before they called it quits.
