A.H.Q – the Will Overman Band

Another tune from my high school years, a good buddy of mine introduced me to this one on a trip to Destin. A.H.Q by the Will Overman Band is a fun little southern rock song that is a laid back listen, great for sharing some drinks with a friend.
It was somewhat of a running joke between me and RFR about not ever being able to understand the lyrics to A.H.Q, and for a while we couldn’t even find them online. In the years since and the rise of genius.com, we’re finally able to figure out what the hell Will is singing about. It’s honestly a pretty beautiful song, being sung from the perspective of a girl’s significant other watching her go through cancer treatments, and reassuring that they still find the girl beautiful.
“Yeah it took you away from me
From the life we oughta lead
Zapped that glow of energy you had
Now you don’t feel sexy, you’re just sad
But I swear that I am the one
Whom you’ll wake to when it’s gone
And I’ll say, “Darlin’, you’re still beautiful
A mix of Audrey Hepburn and queen.”
